Description
The 4200 Series is EdgeTech’s most versatile side scan sonar system and can be configured for almost any survey application from shallow to deep water operations. The 4200 utilizes EdgeTech’s Full Spectrum® CHIRP technology to provide crisp, high resolution imagery at ranges 20-30% greater than non-CHIRP systems; thus allowing customers to cover larger areas and save money spent on costly surveys.

One of the unique features of the 4200 is the optional Multi-Pulse (MP) technology which places two sound pulses in the water rather than one like conventional side scan sonar systems. This allows the 4200 to be towed at speeds of up to 10 knots while still maintaining 100% bottom coverage. In addition, the MP technology will provide twice the resolution when operating at normal tow speeds, thus allowing for better target detection and classification ability.

A 4200 system comes available with a choice of a dual simultaneous frequency towfish; either 100/400 kHz, 300/600 kHz or 300/900 kHz. These towfish are available in two housings; lightweight aluminum for shallow water operations up to 500m or stainless steel for deeper water operation up to 2,000m.

Users also have a choice between a 19 inch rack mount topside processor or a portable briefcase-style topside housed in a waterproof enclosure supplied with a splash-proof laptop. Both of these topsides operate on PC-based Windows© platforms and come installed with EdgeTech’s DISCOVER acquisition and processing software. Customers also have the ability to use a 3rd party computer and/or software with EdgeTech’s 701-DL Digital Link 3rd party interface.

Numerous additional sensors are also available for the 4200 including a fully integrated tracking system with built-in responder nose.
